April will see Adelaide host the Special Olympics 2018 National Games, and last week the Special Olympics flame was welcomed to SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre and the cauldron was lit to signal the start of the Law Enforcement Torch Run. The Torch Run is part of the Flame of Hope raising awareness for the athletes of the Special Olympics in the lead up to the National Games starting in April 2018.

The fact our young surf life savers are represented at such an event illustrates surf’s ability to include all. Matt Cowdrey OAM and State MP highlights this. We hope to bring the same level of inclusivity to the Lifesaving World Championships 2018, and the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre will ensure this aim is met at all pool rescue events”.
