Another LWC2018 Ambassador announced!

We are thrilled to welcome Di Wallace-Ward as our newest Ambassador for LWC2018.

Di’s love is surf lifesaving and she has won 14 State Open Board, 6 State Open Iron Woman Championships and an additional 157 State Titles, 18 Australian Gold, 10 World Titles in Open and Masters Events,  represented South Australia, Australia, member of the Uncle Toby’s and Nutri Grain Series, won the Nutri Grain Iron Woman 1988. She has held positions as State Team coach, member of the Sports Standing Committee, ECO Surf and regular mentor at SLSSA Youth Leadership Camp. In 2016 she was the first woman to be inducted into the Surf Life Saving SA Hall of Fame and nominated for Baton Bearer, Queens Baton Relay (2018 Commonwealth Games Gold Coast).  She’s a pioneer for woman’s participation in surf sports since the introduction of women in 1980, first woman to race in Open Iron Man final with Grant Kenny (1981) and one of the first women in South Australia/Australia to gain the Bronze Medallion.

Di says “I look forward to being an ambassador promoting LWC Adelaide 2018 to endorse lifesaving to the wider community.  This will be my 4th LWC and I’m looking forward to a huge international event held in the State I grew up and competed in for most of my career.  With the LWC being in our own backyard again I will ensure and do my best to see that interest and nominations are high for an event that keeps growing in stature, but most of all participants making new friendships and reigniting old ones, creating comradeship amongst clubs whilst advocating sportspersonship and protecting the integrity of our sport at the same time having a positive and enjoyable experience.”
