The Lifesaving World Championships are conducted every 2 years, showcasing excellence in surf sports and rescue; attracting the most talented and skilled surf sports and rescue people to compete for the title of Worlds’ best. Lifesaving World Championships Adelaide 2018 will be held in Adelaide, South Australia from November 16 – December 2, 2018

Australia’s finest Surf Lifesavers will represent their State and showcase their lifesaving skills in an elite lifesaving sports competition. Contested on the beach and in the ocean, Interstates sees the best of the best battle it out in ironman and ironwoman racing, board races, ski races, taplin relays, rescue events, beach flags and beach sprints.
The 2017 Surf Life Saving Australia Interstate Championships will be held on Friday 20 January at Alexandra Headlands, Queensland. You can watch all of the action on the LIVE STREAM from 8am Brisbane/Queensland time. The 2018 Lifesaving World Championships are returning to Adelaide from November 17 – December 2, 2018. Over 5000 athletes from 40 countries will compete in a range of events that are held in the pool, on the sand and in the ocean. The iconic South Australian Mid Coast is known for its waves and aquatic reserves but on the 29th January, there is the MID COAST COMMUNITY CHALLENGE (MCCC). 200 plus people aged from 9 years will come together at Christies Beach to compete with the day, culminating in the premier Challenge for Open Men and Open Women Surf Life Saving Ocean events. Everyone using the challenging “M” shape course.
Lifesaving World Championships Adelaide 2018 are proud to be supporting the 2017 Mid Coast Community Challenge as an Event Partner through the Ride the Wave program.
Events will encompass the ages of 9 years to Masters with cash prizes for the place getters. A full day of fierce competition of all levels. The introduction of the Mid Coast Community Challenge will see a Youth Club team swim and an open water 1k swim for all members of the community.
This event is the ultimate in competitive collaboration with the Mid Coast Group (South Australia) of Surf Life Saving Clubs including Aldinga SLSC, Moana SLSC, South Port SLSC, Port Noarlunga SLSC and Christies Beach SLSC.

Today is International Volunteer Day! The team at LWC Adelaide 2018 would like to say thanks to the thousands of volunteers who are involved with lifesaving across the world. This could include coaching, officiating, administration, patrolling and more. One of the volunteers in Adelaide, South Australia is Paul Dentonfrom the Somerton Surf Life Saving Club. Paul is involved in both coaching and officiating and without the volunteers like Paul lifesaving wouldn’t be the same!
LWC Adelaide 2018 will heavily rely on the involvement of our volunteers across a number of roles including committees, administration, logistical support, promotion of the event, officiating …. the list goes on! Surf Life Saving SA are hosting the inaugural Surf Sports Series this season and this weekend Round 2 is will be held on the south coast of South Australia at the Chiton Rocks SLSC. The competition kicks off at 10am on Saturday 8 October and concludes at 12pm.
The Surf Sports Series is supported by the Lifesaving World Championships 2018’s “Ride the Wave” community engagement program and is designed to sharpen the skills of South Australian surf sports athletes competing on the national and world stage.
The Surf Sports Series will feature new varying, short course formats with the athletes competing in Board, Beach (events #1 and #4 only) and Ski events for individual points to go towards an end of season tally.
The competition will be fierce with 2015 Surf Life Saving SA Open State Champions Benjamin Zuill and Lily Warrick returning to defend their Open titles against a tight field of SA surf sports stars.
Round 3 will be held at Aldinga Bay on October 22 from 10am and the final round will be held at the Glenelg Surf Life Saving Club on November 12 from 3pm.
