International Volunteer Day – We Say Thanks

vol day

Today is International Volunteer Day! The team at LWC Adelaide 2018 would like to say thanks to the thousands of volunteers who are involved with lifesaving across the world. This could include coaching, officiating, administration, patrolling and more. One of the volunteers in Adelaide, South Australia is Paul Dentonfrom the Somerton Surf Life Saving Club. Paul is involved in both coaching and officiating and without the volunteers like Paul lifesaving wouldn’t be the same!

LWC Adelaide 2018 will heavily rely on the involvement of our volunteers across a number of roles including committees, administration, logistical support, promotion of the event, officiating …. the list goes on! Do you want to volunteer at LWC Adelaide 2018? Keep an eye out on our website for more information in the coming months.

Beach Flags – It Is Always a Crowd Favourite

beach flags

It’s the most exciting 20m sprint you will ever see! The Beach Flags is a crowd favourite at all lifesaving competitions worldwide and it’s not hard to see why.

In this event, from a prone starting position on the beach, competitors rise, turn and race to obtain a baton (beach flag) buried upright in the sand approximately 20 m away.

Since there are always fewer batons than competitors, those who fail to obtain a baton are eliminated.

Don’t forget to #LWC2018 in all of your lifesaving social media posting.
