What are the Lifesaving World Championships?
In December 2014 the Board of the International Life Saving Federation [ILS] voted unanimously in its support for Adelaide to host the 2018 Lifesaving World Championships [LWC Adelaide 2018].
The ILS Lifesaving World Championships are conducted every 2 years, showcasing excellence in surf sports and rescue; attracting the most talented and skilled surf sports and rescue people to compete for the title of Worlds’ best. It is an opportunity to profile the Lifesaving Movement, the important role they play as an emergency service and highlight their contribution to community.
LWC Adelaide 2018 is proudly South Australian and an exciting addition to the States’ Major Events calendar. Through the delivery of a world class event and experience for competitors and audiences, South Australia will build credibility that will support future bids to regularly host the World Championships.
