Volunteer Overview

The Lifesaving World Championships relies heavily on a dedicated team of volunteers who work behind the scenes to ensure the event is a success.

We have opportunities across a range of areas, including administration, media, hospitality and operations. You don’t have to be a member of a surf lifesaving club – you just have to be eager, reliable and willing to put your hand up.

Qualified lifesavers are also encouraged to apply for Water Cover and First Aid – click here for more information.

Volunteers are provided with a uniform, meals during shift, an accreditation pass to access transport and social programs, an invitation to the Thank You function post-event, and of course memories that will last a lifetime!

Volunteer applications are open not only to South Australians, but interstate and overseas people too (however, no travel subsidies are available)! You must be over 18, and have (or be willing to obtain) a police check.

Before you apply:
  • Read the Volunteer Role Overview and consider which role/s you are suited to
  • If you have a police check or DCSI clearance – you will need to provide evidence of this (so find a hard or electronic copy)
  • Check with your employer/study provider that you will have availability during this time (the majority of shifts are during the day, weekdays and weekends, Mon 12 Nov – Sun 2 Dec)
