Welcome to Hannah Davis, our newest LWC2018 Ambassador.
A born and bred proud South Australian hailing from Glenelg, Hannah is a dual Olympian and Olympic Bronze medallist who represented Australia in the sport of Flatwater Kayak at both the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games. In Beijing Hannah picked up a Bronze medal in the Women’s K4 500m event. A feat that no Australian women’s crew before, or since, has been able to achieve. Hannah’s sporting ambition started early as a nipper at Glenelg SLSC, when she began representing South Australian in the Junior Surf Life Saving State Team. Hannah went on to also represent the Senior State Team on several occasions. As an Open athlete, Hannah has won Bronze in the Open Mix Double Ski and a Silver in the Open’s Womens Surf Ski at the Australian Surf Life Saving National Championships.
Hannah was a member of the Glenelg SLSC from the age of 5 up until 27, when she relocated to NSW after landing a job with Surf Life Saving Australian as the International Development Coordinator. While Hannah now works for AFL NSW/ACT as the Female Football Manager, she has since stayed well connected to the South Australian surf lifesaving community, while also joining the North Bondi SLSC in NSW. Hannah is passionate about the development of female sport, as well as sport as a tool for development more generally. In her last few years in South Australia, Hannah was a member of the South Australian Surf Sports Standing Committee, and travelled as a coach with the Senior State Team. Hannah has returned to South Australian in recent years, competing at the rescue 2012 event, where she placed 4th in the Open Women’s Surf Ski race, and took out the Ocean Ski race. Hannah has also helped to deliver female surf ski development clinics in conjunction with Surf Life Saving Australia, in South Australia and nationally.
